EIA Energy Outlook: The U.S. To Become Net Energy Exporter

lweb.es/f2532 01.08.2017

The International Energy Agency’s Annual Energy Outlook provides modeled projections of U.S. domestic energy markets through 2050, and includes scenarios with different assumptions of macroeconomic growth, world oil prices, technological progress, and energy policies. With strong domestic production and relatively flat demand, the United States becomes a net energy exporter in most Outlook cases as petroleum liquid imports fall and natural gas exports rise over the projection period under consideration. Energy-related carbon dioxide emissions decline in most of the cases, with the highest emissions projected in the “no Clean Power Plan” projection.

Oil And Gas Sector Vulnerable To Cyberattacks

lweb.es/f2584 01.19.2017

Critical U.S. infrastructure, including oil and gas pipelines, is vulnerable to cyberattacks. Because no major breaches have recently been announced, the topic of cybersecurity in the oil and gas space has been quiet. That doesn’t mean that the threat of cyberattacks has gone away, Ken Talanian from Evercore said. The Saudi Aramco hack in 2012 – when an unleashed virus erased data from three-quarters of Aramco’s corporate personal computers – would have served as a wakeup call for the industry if the Stuxnet attack in 2010 on an Iranian nuclear facility didn’t.

Cruise Line Executive: LNG Represents The Fuel Of The Future

lweb.es/f2509 01.05.2017

Carnival Corp & plc, the world’s largest leisure travel company with 10 cruise line brands traveling to all seven continents and nearly 750 ports of call, has ordered a total of seven fully LNG-powered cruise ships – a first for the industry. The ships, the first of which will set sail in northwest Europe and the Mediterranean, will feature dual-fuel engines that will burn LNG both in port and at sea. The company’s senior VP talks about the rationale behind the change from marine diesel to LNG.

cMISTTM : ExxonMobil’s New Natural Gas Technology

lweb.es/f2527 01.05.2017

ExxonMobil has developed cMISTTM technology, which dehydrates natural gas using a patented absorption system inside pipes and replaces the need for conventional dehydration tower technology. This new technology reduces corrosion and equipment interference helping to ensure the safe and efficient transport of natural gas through the supply infrastructure and ultimately to consumers. It has been licensed to the Chemtech division of Sulzer, a leading player in separation technologies, to facilitate deployment across the oil and gas industry.

Nigeria Seeks US$51 Billion Investments in Gas

lweb.es/f2221 12.05.2016

iconAccording to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Nigeria has capacity to create about $51 billion investment opportunities in the midstream and downstream gas sector. This investment will go into gas exploration and production activities, power plant projects, fertilizer plants, virtual pipelines and flare gas commercialization initiatives; as well as in Free Trade Zones infrastructure development and concessioning, port infrastructure, central gas processing facilities, gas transmission, LPG plants, real estate development, pipe milling and local fabrication yards. The intent is to position Nigeria as a regional hub for gas-based industries.

Downstream Real Estate Reflects ‘Silver Lining’ In Oil and Gas

lweb.es/f2220 12.05.2016

iconThis 2016 Energy Outlook from the company JLL looks at global macroeconomic trends and considers the recovery timeline to expect once oil prices stabilize. The net effect on property markets of the structural changes that are currently redefining the energy industry is then discussed, focusing on the performance of office and industrial inventories in energy-centric cities. The influence of renewable energy on the health of real estate markets today and into the future is also covered. Lastly, U.S. and Canadian trends, deals and fundamentals are presented.

South America Now A Key US LNG Market

lweb.es/f1440 10.2.2016

iconHigh regional gas prices in South America, most notably Argentina, are attracting US exports of domestically produced LNG, with more than 70% of landed cargoes arriving on the continent so far this year. South America has offered the most profitable destination for US exports compared with Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Regional gas markets, particularly in Argentina, are experiencing elevated prices. In an effort to stem the decline in gas production, the Argentine president cut domestic subsidies in December. His administration hopes that higher wellhead prices will revive production in older fields and stimulate new production, particularly in the Vaca Muerta Basin where large untapped volumes remain locked in shale and tight gas reservoirs. In March and April the first and second US cargoes to arrive in South America landed in Brazil, and since April, all eight US cargoes exported to the region have landed in the Southern Cone nations of Argentina and Chile.

Coal Gasification: Clean Energy for the Future

lweb.es/f922 5.24.16

iconOEF REVIEW:Coal is cheap but the challenge is how to harness coal as clean energy. The main technology being used is coal gasification where the coal is chemically transformed into synthetic natural gas, but its overall carbon intensity is worse than coal mining. Other methods are the coal-bed methane process and underground coal gasification. Underground coal gasification is now a feasible way of accessing the vast resources of coal that are too deep to mine, thus potentially increasing world clean energy supply.

ONGC Plans to Drill 17 Exploration Wells in India’s Shale Oil, Gas Blocks

lweb.es/f901 4.30.16

India’s state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. (ONGC) intends to spend approximately $105 million (INR 7 billion) to drill up to 17 shale oil and gas wells located on the country’s east and west coasts. ONGC is seeking permission to drill 11 exploratory wells for shale oil and shale gas in Cambay basin at Mehsana, Ahmedabad and Bharuch districts of Gujarat, 1 prospect in Cauvery basin at Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu and five wells in Krishna-Godvari Basin at East and West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh. If the proposal is approved by the government, it will be the first time that ONGC has embarked on shale exploration on such a large scale.

India seen setting oil-demand growth pace

lweb.es/f884 4.04.16

iconOEF REVIEW:India is poised to replace China as the world’s center of oil-demand growth, according to authors of a study published by the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. As growth of Chinese oil demand slows, India’s is increasing, note Amrita Sen, chief oil analyst of Energy Aspects, and Anupama Sen, senior research fellow at the Oxford Institute. India’s development has characteristics similar to those of China 10-15 years ago, the analysts say.
