Oil Economy Focus Rapid Review

Part of the plans for a “Green Industrial Revolution” in the UK is to build a nuclear fusion power station that will be wired to the national power grid. This is the STEP project: the Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production that should be completed by 2040. The UK government has already committed £222 million to the project. The size of STEP means that it is unlikely to contribute much to the UK’s drive to cut emissions, however it could become significant for the future of fusion power.
