Oil Economy Focus Rapid Review

Australia is looking towards nurturing a high-tech manufacturing industry producing electrolysers, hydrogen storage and transport solutions, solar PV modules, and grid-disconnected microgrids. While the country’s fossil fuel exports will come to an end mid-century, a new opportunity is emerging in the form of green hydrogen. The State of Western Australia, for example, has provided environmental approval for the first stage of the “Asian Renewable Energy Hub” targeted at generating 26,000 MW from wind and solar to produce green hydrogen and ammonia for domestic use and for export.
